"Tourism" in Farragut

  • Tourists are defined as a people travelling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for leisure, business or other purposes.
  • Tourists stay in hotels.
  • The Town of Farragut has 9 hotels and a 10th one planned.
  • Farragut hotels have high occupancy rates.
  • Whether one wants tourism or not, Farragut has it and its not going away.
  • Farragut, as a part of the greater Knoxville region, has been a destination for tourists since 1982 when the first hotel opened in the Town of Farragut.

The Town of Farragut is a high quality residential community. That is all we have ever strived to be...a high quality residential community. The Town of Farragut has had tourism since 1982 when the first hotel opened in our Town. We have had tourists amongst us since then. We have never strived to be Gatlinburg or Downtown Knoxville and we are not striving to be Gatlinburg or Downtown Knoxville now.

Most of the tourists staying in Farragut hotels are business tourists (yes, business travel is considered tourism) and overflow visitors for Knoxville events including University of Tennessee events.

Given that the Town of Farragut thrives on business generated revenue (and without a municipal property tax), the citizens of Farragut benefit from these tourists when they dine in our restaurants and shop in our stores.

Visit Farragut is a program that supports our restaurants and retail shops and provides marketing so the visitors and residents know what restaurants and retail are available in our Town. Most every restaurant in our Town relies on out of town visitors as well as residents to continue to thrive.
